Foreign Minister's visit to Serbia cancelled
Kathmandu, Aug 29: Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shisir Khanal, has cancelled his scheduled visit to Serbia in the aftermath the August 26 devastating floods in Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts.
He was scheduled to leave here for Belgrade, the capital city of Serbia, on Sunday, leading a three-member delegation to the High-Level Commemorative Meeting of the Non-Align Movement (NAM). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed the cancellation of the Minister's visit to Serbia.
The NAM Commemorative Meeting is taking place in Belgrade on August 31 and September 1.
In absence of the Minister, a two-member delegation led by Krishna Prasad Dhakal, the Chief of UN and the Specialised Agencies Division, MoFA will represent Nepal in the event.
Belgrade had hosted the first NAM Summit in 1961 and in the commemoration of the same summit, it is organising the High-Level Commemorative Meeting.
