Kathmandu, Aug 29:  Efforts from the government-level are underway to rescue those trapped in the Upper Trishuli 3 'B' hydropower project tunnel in Nuwakot in the aftermath of the devastating flood in the Trishuli River on August 26. The government has mobilised a special mechanism to implement the rescue measures effectively. 
While rescue operation in the Upper Trishuli III-'B' is considered extremely risky and technically challenging, a Chinese team comprising high- skilled technical experts has been involved in it following the government's permission. The six-member Chinese expert team has been deployed on the ground.
The squad, which had landed directly in the Trishuli area via a Chinese helicopter, has continued the rescue efforts in coordination and cooperation with the expert team from the Nepali Army.
 The joint team will assess the situation and potential technical aspects inside the tunnel. If the preliminary assessments indicate the possibility of rescue is possible, Chinese experts kept on standby in the Rasuwa border area on the Chinese side will also be called to the site immediately.
However, every possible efforts are underway to rescue the trapped people safely through the coordination among the Nepal Government, Nepali Army, and the Chinese experts.
