Bhotekoshi flash flood: 3,000 plus rescued; 1,558 people missing in Nuwakot

 Trishuli (Nuwakot), Aug. 31: Rescuers rescued more than 3,000 people stranded in different areas of Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts after the devastating Bhotekoshi flash flood. 
The Chief District Officer of Nuwakot and Coordinator of the District Disaster Management Committee, Shambhu Prasad Regmi, said 3,029 people were rescued as of last night. Those rescued ones include 253 foreign nationals too.
Regmi shared that 624 people were rescued in the past 24 hours. "Those taking shelters in safe locations were rescued in helicopters," he stated.  
Regmi said those needing health care services were referred to the health facilities, while others were reunited with their families. 
Likewise, rescue operations for those supposed to have trapped in hydropower tunnels are underway. Some people are still believed to have trapped in Timure, Syaphurbensi, Mailung and other areas in Rasuwa. 
Similarly, 1,558 applications were received as of Sunday seeking help from the administration to help find their relatives and near ones missing from Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts.  
The administration has so far collected 95 dead bodies from different locations in the district and the details along with their identities were made public for the corpse identification. The dead bodies retrieved from Nuwakot district have been kept in Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH), Kathmandu and the concerned families have been urged to establish contact with the TUTH.
